Tonight I found something very, very beautiful. All evening, text messages were flying through the Notre Dame student body to announce a midnight snowball fight on South Quad. The turn-out was immense. Hundreds of students gathered on opposing sides, North vs. South (complete with rebel flag). Magnificent mayhem ensued. A steady barrage of shouts and flying snow filled the air and occasionally a countdown sounded, 3-2-1-CHARGE!, as bands of students rushed at the opposing side. My friends and I sustained minor injury but could not help running, screaming, and laughing with the sheer joy and stress relief of the fight.
At one point, surprise fireworks erupted on one end of South Quad. The opposing armies ceased fire and ran as one down the quad towards the flagpole, marveling at the fireworks that seemed to crown the night. My small group of friends found other friends, including some of our wonderful Dillon boys, and attacked. We finally retreated to LaFortune student center for hot chocolate, and wended our way back to our dorms full and happy.
I reached my dorm to find that St. Nicholas had filled my shoes with candy (HAPPY ST. NICK'S DAY!) - a perfect end to a beautiful night.
You haven't posted in like a millenia. I love you but seriously? How am I supposed to stalk you if you don't post daily?? Walking upstairs to talk to you is WAY too much work.
