The Rooftops of Toledo

The recent start of Skirt Challenge 2010 has coincided perfectly with a week of bright-blue skies and sun-sparkling warmth in Toledo. This is perfect weather for basking in the sun, and that is exactly what I do. Yesterday, I basked with Katie and Laura in the Plaza San Justo (the familiar bench-lined square right before our classroom building).

Today, I am done with class for the week but still face a daunting number of papers to write before my tiempo in Toledo is over. So here I am, "working" at my house. I am sitting on Charo's tiny, sunny balcony overlooking Avenida Santa Barbara. I am surrounded by her many tiny potted plants and a persistent bird is chirping nearby. I look up from my books and computer to the jumble of tile rooftops on the neighboring houses, and listen to the Spanish voices drifting up from the street.

Did I mention that I love it here?
