There's nothing wrong with you.
Those are good words to hear.
It's been a pretty crazy week, and I'll have to go back and post about my weekend and the early part of this week soon. (*You may have already noticed that the timestamps on this blog are often far from accurate. I just like to have the timestamp match the day I'm writing about, although that's usually not the day on which the post was written.)
Tuesday, February 7th, was my brother's birthday. I called him in the morning and prayed for him during the day. But I also wanted to head home to celebrate a bit, so yesterday (Wednesday, February 8th) I took the familiar train out to the suburbs.
My Mum cooked delicious food, as is her custom. I ate too much, as is my custom when I am home. To those who are curious, we ate salmon on spinach; wild rice; homemade caprese salad; and broccoli pie. YUM. However, the night soon took a turn for the worse.
I have had strong pain in my abdomen and chest ever since last Friday. I visited an immediate care doctor in the city, but I didn't really trust his hasty diagnosis. Last night, the pain felt worse than ever. Worried, my mom took me to the ER.
It was my first ER experience, and it was honestly a little fun. The doctors and nurses were all so nice. They ran a full battery of tests on me - CAT scan, EKG, x-rays. I had my first IV tube. I had my arm hooked up to a pole on wheels that had to move around with me, just like in the movies.
Thanks be, there is nothing seriously wrong with me. They are not sure what is causing the pain. But the likely culprit is a little ruptured cyst in my ovary, which caused minor internal bleeding. Both are seriously uncomfortable, but both are also normal. Hoorah.
This morning I sat at the train tracks (see above) waiting for the train to take me in to the city. Crisp, fresh air. Light dusting of snow on the tracks. Warm coffee, supplied by my thoughtful Mum. Cute new coat and gloves (vanity, vanity, my mother would say). Deep breaths. LIFE.
My body is healthy and normal. The pain will subside in a few days. I am alive and unafraid. And so life is especially beautiful today.
Really happy to hear you're okay!!
