I took a walk today between classes. I visited the old Jewish section of the city, where now 2 of the city´s once-plentiful synagogues survive. Sinagoga de la Transito hosts Museo Sefardi, Spain´s national Jewish museum. It´s free with a student ID.
I explored the lovely old building and tried to decipher the Spanish museum plaques. I stumbled upon the synagogue´s small garden courtyard. It holds several ancient Jewish tombs, peaceful and lovely amidst the ivy.
In a city replete with Catholic heritage, this tribute to a different faith was distinct and moving.
